COBBLE BEACH, OREGON
In November 2015 when the whole USA was celebrating the Thanksgiving day, we drove to Oregon and explored the coastal area of Newport. In one day I saw the most amazing black beach (Cobble beach), a beautiful lighthouse, whales and spent the wonderful 2 hours in Oregon Coast Aquarium watching otters and sea lions. But the most amazing things of all was the Cobble beach. It is a result of Columbia River basalt lava flows of 14 million years ago to the Newport seashore. Over millennia, chunks of basalt have fallen from the hillside, bashed in the surf, and morphed into hundreds of gorgeous black round rocks known as cobbles.
