Bodie, California - the ghost town

Bodie, California - the ghost town

I have that special feelings for ghost towns. They are places that grew very fast because some adventurer found gold near it. This one here is Bodie. A place so small that is very easy to miss the sign on the road for it. As you drive towards it the asphalt road eventually ends and in a moment the whole picture is completely changed.

Established during the glorious gold rush Bodie grew rapidly and then disappeared unexpectedly when all the metal was gone. This turned Bodie into a ghost town. Actually this one here is the biggest one of them in California. Its population grew up to 10 000 people just for few years. And when the gold finished - the people abandoned the place. It’s kind of sad but also is so exciting to see how human beings lived hundred years ago. And it is even more exciting for those of us who grew up reading books inspired by the gold rush.
